He filed in IL and paid in IL, we lived in IL. The letter states if you work in CA you have to pay CA income taxes even if you do not live there. Have any of you guys had the same problem? I got tagged by the State of CA several years ago for the same. Live in PDX, based in SFO. I ended up not having to pay anything, but Brasilia in FAT might be earning most of their income in CA, so that might be different. Almost all my trips are transcons, so I'm out of CA for most of my hours. Bottom line, if you are based in CA and live out of state, it is probably worth the money to get an accountant that specializes in airlines or exactly this problem. Looks like there is someone right here in this thread that knows the ropes.
