The idea of having an association administer a DB is an idea that I would be willing to look at. Others unions do it, and it works well for them. There does not seem to be a lot of support for that at this time, but it would offer similar protections that a DC does. With the level of distrust of ALPA it would be an uphill battle, but one I could see ALPA doing. It would make sense from a numbers stand point. It would be very hard for the pilots to vote ALPA off the property if they had their retirement tied up........
No no no no no no no no no.... Sorry sir, but this is an epic FAIL. There are enough people out there with their hands in my wallet. I don't want anybody (the association above all) managing my money. Period. It is bad enough that I have to pay Fidelity for paperwork services when I didn't choose them. But just out of curiosity, how would it be handled for dues paying non-members. This is the type of thing that might just push some of us over that particular edge.
