I "ran into" one of their head guys. And for unmentioned reasons he wants to talk with me. He knows I'm currently instructing full-time, but goes on with why Gulfstream is a good choice. Starts rambling on and on about how instructing isn't for everybody and they are simply just another "option".
Now he said "instructing isn't for everybody" but in all honesty if you cant explain a maneuver to somebody or if you can't explain an instrument approach procedure, or give tips on landings, which is all instructing is really. Sure you can argue that instructing takes a little more than just that. but if it's THAT hard for you... stay out of an airplane for your sake, and my family's sake!
And half of my retarded students are trying to go to Gulfstream. I am blue in the face trying to explain to them how they are screwing our industry in the long run. Undercutting pilot's and paying for a job. Don't try to tell me you are paying for an SIC type and then get "compensated" for your work. YOU ARE PAYING FOR A JOB!!! PEOPLE ARE GETTING FURLOUGHED BECAUSE OF YOU....
In my experience - I've met quite a few good to great pilots you aren't good instructors. It isn't their flying skills, it is their attitude or even their ability to take some concept and explain it in a way that someone can understand - and one way doesn't work for everybody.
When I was starting out I didn't want to instruct - in the civilian world or the military world. I felt that instructors ought to have experience of some sort before they tried to tell you how to apply that knowledge you are gaining to real world situations of course I like sea stories to go along with the concepts.
Now I love instructing and passing along the information that I have garnered over the years. Hopefully I'll be able to pass along something of use that you might not find in the books.
