On the whole "RJs replacing mainline" theme. Keep in mind this was Mesa's flying that ExpressJet took over. 50-seat RJ flying at that. That scope was handed over DECADES ago and voluntarily I might add. Though giving all the flying back to mainline would be a dream come true for mainline and regional guys alike, we still need to count this as a plus. ExpressJet has an industry leading contract, even after taking a concession last year. For once the bar just got raised a little further rather than taken down.
As for the Mesa folks I'm sorry for the loss in all this, I have a few friends from school still there. While in the short term it's a job lost, in the long term it may help make this career just a little bit better.
