I talked with someone who was there. This one wont hurt Fedex. The bill is going to be on SWA. Perhaps this will cause them to reconsider wing walkers on pushback.
We do use wing walkers on pushback. I'm sure there will be blame to go around. ATC should have notified SWA aircraft to give way to taxiing aircraft prior to push. SWA ground crew should have seen the taxiing FEDEX jet and stopped push. FEDEX crew taxiing should have monitored their wing tip clearance as they taxi'd by another aircraft in close vicinity.
I feel for all involved...not a great position to be in. Could've easily been any one of us on another day.
