Overhead in the offices of TPG Capital:
~ I loved it at 40, it's an insult at 50. They're analysts, they don't know preferred stock from livestock, alright? When it hits south, we raise the sperm count on the deal.~
~ Showdowns bore me, Larry. Nobody wins. You can have the company. In fact, its gonna be fun watching you and your giant ego try and make a horse race out of it.~
~ Every battle is won before it's ever fought. Think about it.~
The movie Wall Street was good entertainment and a overly simplistic view of the slash and burn cost cutting which propels "deals" ahead of focusing on the fundamentals of running the business. In this case we have a traditionally expansionist government that is again behind the eight ball looking for resources to prop up a failing industry.
I wish government would "get in" or "get out." Either they need to nationalize, regulate and support us ~ or ~ butt out and let the market decide who survives.
