Don't know if you're aware of this, but if you press the power button twice quickly, the brightness of that light dims to a lower setting. I had mine for 5 years and only just recently found out about this!
I haven't had to send mine in for any repairs yet, but know other guys that have. From what I've heard though, none of them have had to pay for the repairs and were given new loaners while theirs were getting fixed.
I like it. I've only flown turboprops so far which are of course loud as hell and it looks like I'll be flying one for at least another 15 years, so for me it was worth the grand.
