Razz,
Several folks on here can give you some insight into this option as we've been beneficiaries of it. FedEx has an internal hiring process that gives preference to its employees over external hires. Any permanent employee, full-time or part-time, will have preference for any jobs that come open within FedEx Express.
When we start hiring pilots again, any permanent FedEx Express employee who is qualified will have preference to interview for the job. Important points are 1) permanent, 2) FedEx Express, and 3) qualified. Casual employees don't qualifiy. Employees of other divisions of FedEx Corporation (FedEx Ground, FedEx Office, FedEx Freight, etc.) don't qualify. Finally, permanent employees of FedEx Express that don't otherwise meet the qualifications don't qualifiy. Specifically, if recent experience is part of the qualifications and you haven't been flying for a year, you won't qualify.
If you can land a job as a FedEx Express courier and maintain flying currency when the job opens up, you're pretty much guaranteed an interview. Not a job -- an interview. It's still up to you to pass the interview.
It can be done -- good luck.
