I tried using a Plantronics, an older one. The drawback is there is no adjustment on the box attached to the cable like the telex has.
The mic is out of control annoying when flipped up to hot, had to roll up tissue paper and stuff it in the tube make it tolerable for the other guy. A foam cap wouldn't cut it.
