We could go on all day long about what salaries should or shouldn't be, but what actions are you taking to improve them?
I get what both of you are saying, but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. Whatever you do, DO NOT BE THAT GUY who works for a much lower salary, or contract only, just to pay off a stupid type rating. The big corporations are taking full advantage of all the out of work pilots. We need not to be that guy. For all of our sakes in the long run.
