9E guys will bend over backwards to get a JS on- all it takes is making sure one of the crew (CA or FO) knows you are trying to get on. Too many times it's a gate agent that simply says "O, the flight is wt critical" and the JS gives up- all it means when they say that is they either don't want to deal with you or we will need to make sure the weights work because they are close for landing wt or other performance wt. It's rare that we can't make it happen but on short flights that are already full with an alternate needed we have to crunch numbers, we normally are still able to make it happen though.
