It was right on the edge... I guess there are a bunch of reasons why I/We didnt.
Part of it was that MSY is only 45 minutes from IAH,
Part that there were so many people trying to go that have been sitting at the airport for hours,
Part of it that it looked like we were going to beat the weather into MSY
Part of it was that we didnt know that we were going to get hosed trying to get out of IAH while operations got their act together.
I was also flying with an outstanding Capt whom I trusted, and I knew that we collectively could get it done.
Sounds like the begining to one of those CRM class video tapes doesnt in.
Honestly its kinda hard to say NO to a plane full of desperate people who honestly are just happy to be leaving IAH. I speak with empathy because I am almost always happy to leave IAH!!

This sounds similar to the the circumstances that the American pilots encountered leading up to the accident in Little Rock.
