That's the reason I haven't gotten a digital logbook. I always figured, why put the numbers in twice? Then someone told me we can hand the Feds a pile of cocktail napkins, as long as they have the required info. Anyone know for sure?

Just like the feds, "you may log it anyway you want as long as we approve.... and we won't tell you if we approve until we violate you"
Actually one could keep a stack of napkins with the required information; however, a pilot who walks in with an unorginized pile of junk will not make a good impression.
I have had no problem with the electonic logbooks. I do still keep a limited pen and ink logbook for training and endorsements (I am adding on glider ratings).
