It sounds like a good temporary gig for pilots, but federal law enforcement is very insular...they probably wouldn't like to hire people who are not "real" cops and don't want to stick around. FAM is a better gig for someone trying to break into a better federal LE job I think.
But if you need a job and don't mind dead-heading for a living, might as well apply...

the only problem with the federal application process is the length of time to get hired. It is crazy. It's easier to become an airline pilot, which to me is bass ackwards. Again, since the U.S. Gov't needs FAM's why not allow pilots the temporary position then train as you go to get the security net in place while filling job positions and getting people to work. It could be a win win for all involved. The flying public would feel as if the government moved quickly and would feel a little better about security and the O'bama "where are thou" administration would be getting people to work. I think it is a good fit honestly. Pilots helping pilots helping the country. Wow what a concept....
