Default Jumpseating What/who is it for?

Hi all- Lurker, jumging into the mix..

Question for you all..

The cockpit jumpseat, and jumpseating has been around a loooong time. As a commuter myself, I've been up front quite a few times, as it was the last seat getting to work, or getting home from work.. I've taken it, and have suggested (in a couple of cases required) it be taken by fellow pilots to allow other fellow crew members a seat in the back so that they too can get home or to work.

A very forward, progressive thinking airline has designed it's business plan around allowing chief pilots, and other management type pilots to live away from base, and to show up for work from-where ever..

On a number of occasions, one just after X-mas, I was unable to get to work, because, not one, but two of these guys, got to the gate before I did. Thats how it works... I know that... These guys are 121 qual'd guys and they are legal to be there...

The airline I work at didn't always have the cockpit jumpseat. It was a negotiated Item, and was an item we secured in contract negotiations-with management.

Now then... For my question: (I bet you were wondering if I would get to that)
Ethically, should I be ****ed that managers are taking what I consider to be a line pilots ride to and from work? Is this something that I should start to make an issue about (tactfully)?

What say you?
