Probably not so difficult once unrealistic expectations and egos are taken out of the equation.
Category/Status ratios plus an "x" factor for "wide bodied" international flying expectations.
With AAA/AWA, Nicolau was faced with a somewhat similar scenario. He stapled 517 AAA pilots on the top of the list to account for the "wide bodied" international flying and then applied category status for the similar fleet types.
The 517 AAA pilots on the top of the list were the total number of captains + the total number of first officers flying wide bodied international. The first officer numbers were added on top to account for wide bodied expectations and longevity.
Not sure if the same disparity exists in longevity, so perhaps all the wide bodied F/O positions wouldn't be considered, but some factor would be used.
With DAL/NWA once again category status dominated the award plus an "x" factor for longevity.
Naturally, there would be a great deal of angst driven rhetoric tossed about in an SLI. However, at the end of the day it will all come down to category/status ratios plus an "x" factor for longevity and expectations. We would either get there on our own and negotiate it or an arbitrator will award it.
