I just want to throw out there than not all junior guys feel like Superdad and Flying Viking. As a junior DL guy myself (but senior to Superdad, hah!) I am embarassed by the feeling of entitlement these guys exhibited here.
Yes, I was hired into the ER and the possibility of that happening sure made coming to DL that much more appealing. But I was also aware that it probably wouldn't last. While I miss the flying, I have no problem slumming it out in the Mighty Dog. My reason for coming to DL was to go work for a good company. If that means it may take a few extra years to see a wide body, so be it.
BTW Superdad, your quest to fly a wide body shouldn't the end-all. Your first shot at wide body flying (Maxjet) didn't end well. If you hadn't been lucky enough to get hired here, you'd probably still be unemployed or flying for a much less desirable company.
And as for saying the AS guys don't have any expectations of ever flying a wide body, how do you know that? There's nothing to say that in the future, AS won't buy bigger jets, just as there's nothing to say that in the future, DL will park all its wide bodies in order to fly domestic only.
To all AS guys, if there is a merger, I say "Welcome aboard."
