Bar, these questions aren't posed as flambait, but trying to understand your point of view. Were you here for any of Whitehurst's tenure? If so, what did you see him actually accomplish?

My impressions of him were very negative. The only concrete accomplishment I saw him make was Velvet Rope, and that's when he was COO of the airline. He was a great talker/schmoozer with a gift of telling people what they wanted to hear in the moment. That message was different for each group that he worked with (IFS, TechOps, Ops, etc.). He really stepped on it at the Paris Air Show. His executive allies included JK and GC, not the folks that I'd want as my letters of recommendation. Personally I think the Board made the correct choice.
