At the same time the types that would have been promoted, like Hollis Harris and dare I say Whitehurst have been passed over for quick gains which are not focused on our customer or our product.
I like Anderson as well, although I would never confuse his interests as being the same as our (the pilots) interests.
Remember:
- During the 2007 search for a new DAL CEO, Anderson repeatedly stated publicly that he was NOT a candidate for the job.
- After he somehow got the job he wasn't a candidate for, his famous quote was "Between Northwest and Delta there is no plan and no intention of any merger or acquisition". He almost immediately then went shopping for a merger or acquisition.
He certainly doesn't owe it to me or the pilot group to tip his hand, and there are legitimate business reasons for misinformation campaigns. His duty is to the shareholders first, his personal enrichment second (or was that the other way around?), and the employees of the company as a distant third.
Ultimately, if he does well for the company, ideally we'll all benefit from it. But lets be realistic about what he's here for.
(a good summary of his Delta dealings are summarized here:
