Bar, these questions aren't posed as flambait, but trying to understand your point of view. Were you here for any of Whitehurst's tenure? If so, what did you see him actually accomplish?
His plan for going it alone was a growth plan and that got me hired. So, it is pretty easy for me to have a favorable impression of Jim's direction for the Company. His tenure is also the last time we posted a profit. He was at the helm for getting us out of bankruptcy and he sure seemed to bleed Blue.
The subsequent plan to merge kicked off with fleet rationalization which resulted in demotion, another demotion a merger which I will not comment on and hundreds of millions of dollars in associated expenses. ALPA says it is the economy and that is probably true. They also say Jim Whitehurst was no friend to the pilots, that could be true. Like I wrote, I've got a favorable impression of Anderson and ALPA's opinion of him seems favorable.
I keep coming back to ALPA because our union is our Bargaining Agent, we have a Pilot Director, and my opinion is .0008 of what matters in the grand scheme of things.
