That is not exactly what Nicelau awarded to the USAir East pilots. He gave the top 500 slots for Widebody Captains at USAir, since AWA didn't have widebodies at that point. Could they have gotten them later on? Maybe, since they had 742s flying to Nagoya via HNL years before. But Nic still gave the East guys the top 500 spots. That is precedent.
This is exactly why we should probably expect their most senior guy to go after our stovepipe WB captain slot...which is right around seniority #2600.

There are ways that they could be done, and there are the legal and "scientific" ways of running the numbers that more than likely WILL be done.

That is what was done with the USair deal, although no pull/plug credit was given for the age of the easties... and that was what was also done with our integration, although it was a bit harder to see since our companies are so similar.

The precedents have been set, and the gigantic crayon used for measuring this will still probably be used again... unless someone has some other brilliant solution that isnt overly complicated like a dynamic list.


Of course... all being hypothetical. Interesting to think about, though. The JAL thing hasn't even gone through yet...
