Remember, you are teaching to the '1 percenters'. 99% of the sheeple just want to get thru the course with a passing grade. Then there is 1% that will find this fascinating, and go on to become a scientist or engineer. After all, we don't want to have too many pilots or engineers, it would bring down our sala..............oh, nevermind.
This is the true post on this thread.
Unfortunately, a standard cross section of society will yield a vast majority of "regular" average to below average folks who will contribute little to society beyond a mere sustenance of existence through their lives until their deaths.
The much smaller minority will be the ones who go on to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders and make a difference going forth demonstrating the ability to look beyond their own noses at what makes this world tick and to then think and discover their ways into areas either never ventured or long forgotten my mankind.
If you inspire one kid on the room, you've done your best. Not everyone worth their salt needs to be interested in science, for there are other ventures worth pursuing - but you can separate the two types described above by mere observation in most cases.
