Delta-Japan Air Alliance May Be Able to Gain Approval (Update1)

Jan. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Delta Air Lines Inc. may be able to win U.S. approval for a pricing alliance with Japan Airlines Corp., boosting its chances of wresting the Asian carrier from American Airlines’ Oneworld group, analysts said.
Delta, the world’s largest carrier, would offer Japan Air access to a bigger route system than Oneworld’s, said Vaughn Cordle, chief executive officer of Airline Forecasts LLC. That would help travelers, the Transportation Department’s chief criterion for granting antitrust exemptions, he said.
