Do you mean to say that its your understanding a pilot who is on his last day of reserve before an X day ("soft" day) is still considered available for an assignment after noon that day? e.g. can scheduling call at 1400 and assign a trip that has a 0300 sign in that falls on an X (soft) day?
I'm with Crunch in thinking I'd be pretty much in the clear as of noon--not enough time to give me a trip that starts before my last reserve day ends. Heck, it's not flying into the X day, it's starting in the X day in such an scenario.

I am friends that have been assigned on their last day of reserve in to a "soft off day" It appears if they are short they will do anything.
