Agreed. They are the best people in the system. They've got external power on the aircraft before you come to a complete stop. CVG's problem is several fold. It is the smallest city by population that had a hub airport of its size so the majority of the traffic (65%) was connection. It could go through any other airport in theory. DAL has always had a love/hate relationship with the city. The city loved having 100 nonstop cities to fly to but they hated to pay the money that entailed that investment. Unlike other cities that are isolated by hours, DAY-CMH-IND-SDF-LEX are all within 1 1/2 hours of CVG. The fares were always lower so many people would drive there, jump on a flight, connect through CVG and go on their way for 1/2 the price of the CVG ticket.
Sad that this is happening and I'm a bit surprised as you also have Proctor and Gamble, Kroger, Federated/Macy's, Chiquita, Ashland Oil, GE Aircraft Engines all calling CVG home or within an hour drive of it.
