I really doubt doing IPC will get you a call. From what I've heard, they are starting to interview furloughed pilots now as well that haven't touched a plane in several months. It's all about internal recommendations and maybe some luck in getting a call.

FTD (Flight Training Device) and Simulator a two different things. Most logbooks have only one column entitled "Simulator", but you still log FTD/Sim time in that column. FTD time is pretty much worthless, it doesn't add to your Total time or anything else. The only time I log Sim/FTD time is for training (e.g. instrument rating) or currency.
