I agree with you. Someday we will need to stand up and show that we are not going to be taken advantage of. That is EXACTLY why I would discourage infighting (especially on a public message board) and personal attacks.
Many on here are far too quick to do management's bidding for them and look down upon their fellow pilots. On the flip side, I don't feel that our
current relationship with management is giving us any reason to "grow a pair" and start a meltdown. So far, they have shown a genuine (in my opinion) interest in engaging the pilot group. What has occurred here is unprecedented, and until that relationship changes (and it probably will around 2012) I see no need to start trouble where it doesn't exist.
The key, as you seem to be pointing out, is that we ALL BE WILLING to take a stand if necessary, should management decide to alter the relationship. There is a middle ground between bending over because we don't want to rock the boat, and starting a riot for no good reason. Frankly I'm very pleased that we are operating in the middle ground and hope it continues.
