Crew Scheduling uses the excuse that they assume pilots are going to deviate. Even to the point of assigning redonkulous DH legs they know no one could make (15 minute turns, < 1:30 to wheels up from the initial call, etc ...) Well, usually I fly the exact trip as scheduled and usually it takes a dozen phone calls and usually the weather is crap.

Well, since this is an acknowledged problem, why not attach a cost to it? Something to encourage CS and CA to actually perform their job.

If I no show for a trip, I don't get paid. There is an incentive for me to perform. Lets incentivize the Company to not leave us homeless in the rain during a rotation!

At least .25 pay, or $50 per call.

I agree. They'll even go as far as finishing you out of base the night before, then deadheading you out on the last flight the next day to try and force you to deviate thus losing per diem. Hey. Let's fix that too. Per diem doesn't get affected if you deviate.
