For 50% of those guys, life at RP has been gravy from day one. Until they get displaced, furloughed, and have their pay cut, they will continue to trust BB to do whatever is necessary to keep their jobs secure.
This is another such move, and I'm sure 75% of them are supportive of this decision.
This statement is false also. Hardly any Purdue grads were hired post 9/11. The ones that were hired prior have mostly moved on to SWA, CAL, DAL, UPS, and FedEx during the 2005-2007 hiring sprees. There are a ton of uneducated Delta Connection Academy pilots though. Your statement about life being gravy is pretty accurate though. Most of the upper half of the list was hired in their early 20's and upgraded in less than 2 years. They think $70/hour is a lot of money and are perfectly content topping out at $120/hour. The thing they don't realize is if everyone stays, that top salary won't hold up. They'll be replaced by cheaper labor.
