I've started my own side business doing aircraft appraisals. I'm taking it very slow making sure everything is setup right. I've paid for most the startup costs out of pocket and I wouldn't plan on using it as a means to make a living but it's a decent little side gig based on what I've been told by several that do it. I haven't really gotten the ball rolling on it as a full scale business yet but I did just do a Citation 560, Super King Air 300, and a Citation XLS.
I enjoy stretching my legs in the GA world. It's nice to meet people and their aircraft. These three were just a lucky run-in with the right person. I don't expect business like this on a regular basis. My goal is 1-2 aircraft per month of mostly pistons. Just an idea I had that was flexible. I'd also recommend looking into being a substitute teacher. Not the best pay in the world but it is rewarding/fun and does put spare change in the pocket.
