The pilot burnout would be tremendous. 85hr x 12months is 1020hrs in a year (obviously not sustainable). They are just running so thin and I can see the cascade effect of not enough reserves and running people ragged, especially during bad WX or if a plane breaks, etc.
I hope in the new contract we will see a 14 or 15 day off min for lineholders. That would force the company to build more productive schedules. I think Grazel is of the mindset that we must do as much as possible with what we have, then recall only when absolutely necessary. If you look at the lines here the last six months most are incredibly unproductive, and if they can manipulate the schedules to get rid of these 23 hour overnights and 3 block hour flight days we will not see a need for recalls here for quite some time......fortunately for you furloughed guys I dont think they are that smart.
