It's amazing. The government lets Jetblue start up an entire airline from scratch at one of the most over-congested airports in the world, but will not let two established carriers exchange slots. I know, I know...JFK is extremely under-utilized in the morning. Was Jetblue going to just stop operating at 4pm every day? The industry either needs regulated or it doesn't. This half-ass sh!t to try and keep prices below bus fares has to end. Why the hell should Delta or US Airways have to sell slots? If the government wouldn't let every single airline that applies start up, maybe there wouldn't be these over-congestion issues going on. There's always a recurring theme. Most new airlines claim to want to fly out of smaller cheaper airports, but when it comes down to it, the main airports are where the money is.
