The admiration you see from either FedEx employees or Southwest employees is likely the appreciation of working for someone who has a vested interest in the organization and is more likely to do what is best for the organization as a whole. In general; when the organization wins, the employees win. It's called a symbiotic relationship. At least, the FedEx and Southwest employees are able to differentiate from relations with middle-management and the role of a CEO.
You are too jaded to see that there is a difference between a CEO who takes a job and a CEO who takes ownership and pride in his creation.
