There were 4 of them on that purchase round. 1 showed up about 8-10 weeks ago (2009), and another showed up this year with the other 2 to follow in 2010.

That is correct, they are all former ATA ETOPS -300. Going through GUM some trips back, there were 2 "ATA"-300s sitting there waiting to be taken over to Hong Kong for their final make-overs. I am pretty sure when they convert them over from ATA's paint, they are also putting winglets on them as well.

Some of those right seat wonders had no choice, as they were junior Captains (capital C) on reserve. Others scabtains were those from '83 who happily took the bonus pay and pointed out that they were acting within their contractual rights.

Now, the manpower is a mute point, and future orders are irrelevant. The limiting factor seems to be how fast CAL can get Q-400s over at Colgan. Any aircraft orders at CAL must be offset by the fact that CAL still has 43 737-500s that they want to get rid of.
Riddler......

Believe me, I'm blown away too. The fact the company sees it as a meanfuling 'cost saving' to furlough the most junior 147 (who are in first yr pay $30/hr pay, and have NO group insurance cost) just DOES NOT add up. The OT "monger's" make me SICK as well.....especially the right seat wonders who wear 4 strips.

March block line values are going up as summer approaches. Now that there is an 'actual' proposal on the table (weak or otherwise), my hope is that when voluntary JM comes a knocking this spring/summer.....pilots will tell Jeff he is "number 1" and see the light to hold firm.

Hang in there man.
