That's funny, I got up front on a CAL 737 with my CASS, and I do Airways flying. The gate agent asked me for my passport at checkin, and verified me with my CASS photo.
Probably because that gate had one of the new monitors. Up until recently, the screens at most gates could not display images so there was no way to pull up your CASS picture so if you were offline, you had to sit in the back.
