PCL ALPA (negotiators/chairman) are in front of the NMB today explaining why the TA failed and the "meat and potatoes" that are the remaining issues to get a deal done for the pilots. After that the ball is in the NMB's court for direction going forward. There is not a specified time for them to get back to us, but I have been told this type of decision does not take long to receive. We can go through "what we think they will say" but the NMB has a few options- (in no particular order) direct negotiations with the company, mediated negotiations, release, or ice. The MEC will be putting out info as it comes back from the NMB and will work to keep all the pilots informed. Keep in mind since the failed TA the union has NOT had a direct negotiation session with the company, the union has been willing, but the company attorney(s) have been firm that they cannot negotiate without the NMB's "Ok" (hence the NMB meetings that are going on today and monday). The editorial review took many weeks of hard work on behalf of the negotiating committee and the company where many areas have been reworded for proper intent and some issues the pilots had are actually fixed, yet the big items that the TA was voted down for have not been discussed in a true negotiation. This is a public board -and mgmt does look at this a good bit- so I won't comment on what we are wanting, the strategy, or what I think the company will do. needless to say everyone (MEC and pilots) want this done- but we won't just roll over and raise a flag. The pilots have shown (in survey data and pilot's direct input to their reps) what they need, and that's what everyone is working towards as quickly as possible.
