Wait! What?! I worked for ExpressJet from Nov 04-Feb 08. I was a EWR FO-IAH FO-EWR CA-ONT CA and the only place I never had to wait for rampers was ONT. It was quite common to wait for rampers in EWR and IAH. Maybe this has changed in the last year or two, but it certainly was common to wait when I worked at XE.
I can't address the rest of the original poster's post since I have not flown any of the UAX stuff but the ramper situation in IAH and EWR has gotten significantly better in the last 12-18 months. Whereas a call to ops and 4-5 minutes waiting for rampers was the norm, it is now definitely the exception. CLE has always been top notch and it seems the ramp in the other bases have started taking a page from CLE's playbook. Or maybe the surplus of labor in today's market has adjusted some attitudes on the ramp.
