I'd also think that assigning SCs has a lot to do with your time of availability (1300-0100) and what trips they need to fill.

Which here is a question and I'm on my way to look it up but if someone knows it, if you see that they've assigned you a trip prior to you starting SC and you accept it, are you still phone liable on SC if they change their mind? My guess is yes, I'd prefer no, but I'm looking it up. I know on LC you "will not be required to remain available for contact in the 12 hours prior to the scheduled report of an assigned rotation." Trying to figure out for SC.

Good news, DOT head LaHood will also be on the hotseat today right along with Toyota CEO. A weakened DOT head wouldn't be a bad thing I suppose in our slot swap fight.

By TERRY MAXON / The Dallas Morning News

As the U.S. airline industry lost tens of billions of dollars over the past 10 years, it also lost a tremendous number of employees.Nearly one in every four U.S. airline jobs disappeared in the 10 years that ended Dec. 31, and the largest airlines were among the hardest hit, according to new data.

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics says U.S. airlines employed 557,674 full-time and part-time workers at the end of 2009, down more than 170,000 from the end of 1999.

-So, where do you pin the blame? Computers? Internet? PBS? Elimination of 3-pilot aircraft?
