Just had jury duty in Jan. Very painless. Here though, they use driver licence info to pull jury pools because voter registration was less than 40% of the population.
Back when I was growing up and when my dad was in the midst of 30 years in the USNR and serving as a full-time pastor, with a doctorate, he'd get a jury summons and it was always a comical event. My home town was ghetto and proud of it and our famous alumni like Allen "bubbachuck?" Iverson and later the Vick boys. So my dad would get jury summons all of the time and show up in a suit and without fail he was the first sent home when they started to eliminate jurors. I guess he didn't qualify as a peer.
