Yes, there will never be a pilot shortage. Periodically there is only a shortage of people willing to fly for twenty grand a year. There's a difference. It only seems reasonable to me that a requirement to be an airline pilot is an Airline Transport Pilot License, but raising the bar just a little bit won't do much to restore the profession until we decide to quit whoring ourselves out for a job.
