Well than I agree. Just like bringing up religion in a bar I'm sure I'm going to get ripped apart for even talking about this as a regional FO but here goes. I hear this argument from both sides and who is at fault. Is it the new regional pilots for accepting the job? Is it the mainline for letting scope get the way it is? Both sides have legitimate arguments for what has transpired to be reality today. Either way I agree these planes should be flown for mainline as it is today. I like how it use to be when it took 1200 hours to be considered for a regional job. I would like the mainline to still be there as a career to look forward to if regional's don't change to reflect a mainline profession. I would like the idea of a regional as a lifetime career (which many of the captains I fly with have concluded) to go away unless the pay scale reflects linear with mainline in seat capacity. I would like to see all ALPA regional’s join forces to bring the bar up across the board at one time; make an even playing field at one point in time so the regional’s can remain competitive with each other and stay in business. On a serious note I would also like to win the lottery. Any realistic ideas to move the career in the right direction?
