We just trained you to be a CFI but we don't think our CFI training is good enough for you to be a CFI so we're going to train you some more. That right there would have me doing a 180.
My company had a "Standards" class when I was CFI in '98. It was actually a Standardization class that was all about company SOP's and policies, not CFI stuff. I think it was also a way to stick with the "airline way of doing things" because it was an aviation college.
Almost forgot, $20K is ridiculous.
