The guy that did both of my surgeries was a former AF flight surgeon and he wrote a letter. I don't think it had much impact since I was still DQ'ed so many times. I was being DQ'ed even for commissioning much less a flight slot - this was for AFROTC. Even when I got to OCS for the Marines, once I was being screened AGAIN, they sent me into see a specialist (? Navy LT) to make a determination. I was pretty upset figuring that I had made it all the way to OCS and then was going to be sent packing. He examined me and eventually asked me if I had encountered any problems. I told him none whatsoever and that I had played sports and everything else all thourgh chigh school and college (except for my recovery periods) and he aid "well this is some of the toughest physical training we have so I'm going to let you try. If you make it, there was nothing wrong with your knee; if not, then you had your shot and you'll never have to look back and wonder."

Sorry it didn't work out for you Swedish Blender. This all happened to me in the '84-89 timeframe and I know that the late 80s and early 90s were tough years.
