Do a simple google search of the keywords "Costco" "layoffs" and you'll see just how many were cut last year.

I did as you suggested.

I came out with one article saying that Costco was laying off about two dozen employees from the Billings, Montana store and that similar layoffs were expected at stores across the country. With 563 stores, that would make it over 12,000 total.

WOW! Costco is the 3rd largest retialer in the US and the 9th largest in the WORLD. With 147,000 employees, the 12,000 plus would make up over 12% of the workforce. Of course I only looked at the top choices. I'm not wasting too much time reading all the info out there. I do have other important things to do like playing Modern Warfare 2 with my son!

An article on Alaska Airlines stated that they were laying off 10% of their workforce. An Alaska Airlines Fact Sheet lists the employee number at 10,010 - so that would equate to 1,001 employees let go.

Alaska Airlines is the 9th largest carrier in the US and "is the dominant U.S. West Coast air carrier."

Are these the same numbers that you came up with KC10?

If I wanted $4+ million compensation I'd get out of the piloting business, go back to school, use my middle management expertise to the max and try to get a job in management and work my way up to a CEO'ship. As it is - I'll stick with the flying stuff because I don't think I would like the management side of the business - though that pay check looks pretty good. I might even buy my own Cirrus or Cessna 400
