No reason to sell yourself for 18,000 per year, commuting on reserve, when it isn't going to help your career. Sorry to offend, but I felt like I was underpaid making over 30,000 my last two years. Not worth it to be away from home half the time, doing 5 legs per day.
It's no secret to anyone in the industry that the Colgan pay scale is atrocious to say the least. It's also no secret that most people come here for one of two reasons ... a) quick upgrade (which, as it stands right now is still shorter than any other company ... but longer than it used to be) ... b) based at home (which, with our outstations closing that's no longer the case either). Being a pilot here myself I will say that as much as we get abused ... the pilots here are some of the greatest people/pilots I have ever met. Of course there are exceptions like there is with any company.
With any luck we'll have a contract by summer 2011 and QOL will improve greatly! We'll see.
