While that is quite a bit of moolah for an editor of the monthly rag to be making, it really isn't their responsibility to fact check on every pilot who says they came from a mil background or are a guard bum..or whatever it may be.

Imagine every pilot that is featured on there that says they have a military background. Should we require them all to show their paperwork to prove their background before interviewing or an article?

This guy had developed a reputation at Eagle, and the LEC or MEC should have nipped it in the bud when they saw his name come up. Those are his peers who would know about someone like this. I just can't lay too much blame on the editor unless they failed to respond to this public outcry.

The guy next month actually is a Colgan guy- with a legit background, haha. Too bad this yahoo had to ruin the honor.
