Believe it or not, I am a WWII buff and to my delight, the local public station is showing a documentary comparing the Zero and the Wildcat, and the two pilots who flew them. The show compares the pros and cons of the two aircraft as well as the different personalities and abilities of Saburo Sakai and "Pug" Sutherland. The differences were great between them, but the two men shared something in common - respect for each other as an aviator.
