Some guys will opt not to do that if they have the traffic in sight, but that is technically non-kosher because it's possible that the traffic causing the RA is not the one you actually have in sight...
On a heavy weight 777-200 a low speed climbing RA can be a bit skinny and descending RA's below 1,000' are not good for your health either. I've flown SFO to PEK in a 777-200 a couple of times and you are right at MGTOW of 640,00lbs.
