Does this qualify as first-hand experience?
In 2006 our family took a fishing vacation in Mammoth Lakes. We found a perfect fishing spot and just started getting set up. Then, a lady on a kayak out in the lake paddled by and said there's a bear coming our way.
I said 'thanks, I'll keep my eyes peeled' - 10 second later this thing wandered in to our camp and scared the shizzle out of us.
My wife picked up our 4 y/o and headed for the truck. I got about 25 yards away and watched her (the rangers later told us it was probably a Mama bear) open our cooler and eat our entire lunch. By the time she was done the only thing left was 6 long neck Coronas on ice.
