I would have to think that Delta could ask for that to be changed. I doubt they are going to retrain even more pilots to go back to the NWA system. They will change the code and be done with it. You can probably do it on your Iphone.
The fuel savings have a lot more to do with accuracy and planning flexibility than crusie speed.
Maybe they are keeping the worldflight contract to leverage AWABS/WDR to improve their product?
Don't think for a second that the only ones who will be trained on something new will be fNW if there are significant cost savings and revenue enhancement involved.
